In 2027, the Morocco Desert Challenge introduces the Classic category: a full-fledged rally competition for historic rally cars and trucks that are at least 20 years old. This is not a regularity event with imposed average speeds, but a genuine competition with its own classification, giving iconic rally vehicles another chance to shine.
The Classics follow the same basic route as the other racing categories, but on a course that is approximately 20% shorter. The toughest dune sections and most extreme tracks are left out, while particularly difficult passages are shortened or bypassed via alternative routes.
The challenge of a true rally-raid remains, with fast tracks, technical sections, sand and demanding navigation, while respecting the age and technical capabilities of these historic vehicles. Participants also benefit from the same professional organisation, extensive safety measures and unique bivouac atmosphere as all other racing categories.
